History
Otterbine Aerators have been in water quality management for over 50 years, family owned and operated the Barebo's take great pride of their history and continually surpassing industry standards.
1952: The first Otterbine aerator was invented by Dick Ott and Otterbine was born.- 1952 - 1971: Otterbine concentrated primarily on the waste water treatment and aquaculture market. Products included aerators, paddle wheels, spawning tanks.
- 1973: Bob Rodale acquired Otterbine aerators and it became a division of Rodale Resources, Inc.
- 1978: Charles 'Chuck' Barebo was named President of the Otterbine division at Rodale Resources, Inc.
- 1978: Concept1 aerators were introduced to the product line
- 1980: Chuck Barebo purchased Otterbine from Rodale Resources and incorporated the company to Otterbine Barebo, Inc.
- 1981: Soon after Chuck Barebo acquired the company, he saw that Otterbine aerators had much more potential and would work in a variety of applications, thus they ventured into the Golf and Waste Water markets.
1983:Fountain Glo Lighting introduced to the product line.- 1988: Bunker Pumper de-watering pump introduced to the product line.
- 1990: Air Flo diffused air systems introduced to the product line.
- 1991: Concept2 released - a new generation of aeration products was released.
- 1993: The 2nd generation Carla V. Barebo-Ott, Chris Barebo and Charlie Barebo took over the leadership of the company.
- 1994: Ottershield lake dye introduced to the product line.
- 1995: Instant Fountain introduced to the product line.
- 1999: Giant Fountain introduced to the product line.
- 2000: The Triad pattern was added to the Giant Fountain line.
2001:Otterbine released Concept3, and introduced the Gemini pattern to their Aerating Fountain line.- 2002: Comet, Galaxy, and Saturn patterns were added to the Concept3 Aerating Fountain line.
- 2004: Genesis pattern was introduced to the Concept3 Aerating Fountain line. Fractional Aqua Series added in the spring.
- 2006: The Large Aerating Fountain (7.5 & 10 HP) line was introduced with six patterns.
- 2008: New Air Flo 2 Diffused Aeration system introduced with choice of stone or dome diffuser manifolds.
- 2010: The Barebo Family celebrates 30 years of producing quality products.
