Partnerships that Keep Water Features Performing
After more than 20 years of service, Champro Sports’ Global Headquarters in Bannockburn, Illinois upgraded two of its existing Otterbine aerating fountains with new 3HP Rocket displays and stainless steel shielded cable. Completed with support from Scientific Aquatic Weed Control and Aquatic Control, the project improves long-term reliability while maintaining the attractive, healthy ponds that complement the corporate campus.

Corporate ponds can serve as an important focal point of a property, combining an attractive landscape feature with the benefits of circulation and aeration. At Champro Sports’ Global Headquarters, two 3HP Otterbine aerating fountains that had operated for more than 20 years were recently replaced with new Rocket fountain displays.
As part of the project, the existing underwater power cable was also upgraded to stainless steel shielded cable to provide additional protection against nuisance wildlife, including muskrats and other animals known to damage submerged electrical cable.
Protecting the Investment for Years to Come
While the fountain itself may be the most visible part of the installation, dependable electrical infrastructure plays an equally important role in long-term performance.
The upgrades at Champro Sports provide several key benefits:
- Long-Term Reliability: Replacing aging equipment and electrical infrastructure helps reduce potential service issues and keeps the fountains performing as intended.
- Added Cable Protection: Stainless steel shielded cable provides increased protection in environments where nuisance wildlife may damage submerged electrical lines.
- Simplified Maintenance: Upgrading equipment as it reaches the end of its service life helps make future maintenance and service more predictable.
- A Consistent Campus Appearance: The 3HP Rocket displays provide an attractive focal point while circulating and oxygenating the water to support healthier ponds.
The project was completed by Scientific Aquatic Weed Control of Gurnee, Illinois, with support from Aquatic Control of Seymour, Indiana, one of Otterbine’s longest-standing distributors and premier sales and service partners. Their combined experience provided Champro with knowledgeable local service backed by decades of fountain and aeration expertise.
The First Phase of a Broader Upgrade
The installation represents the first phase of Champro Sports’ larger plan to modernize the water features throughout its corporate campus. Proposals have been provided for additional older Otterbine fountains as they reach the end of their service life, while other ponds will be evaluated for opportunities to replace competitive fountains with Otterbine equipment.
Standardizing equipment across the property can help minimize maintenance, simplify service, and provide consistent performance throughout the campus. For corporate properties like Champro Sports, Otterbine aerating fountains provide more than an attractive display. By circulating and oxygenating the water, they help support cleaner, healthier ponds while creating an inviting environment for employees, customers, and visitors.
